In 2003 LATIE was directed by its Board of Governors to establish the BETTER BUSINESS FORUM in order to monitor and communicate the business operations of schools, institutions and teachers in the ESL profession worldwide.
The better business forum has two purposes
- to allow teachers, schools, or institutes who feel they have been mistreated to file complaints against the offending party and
- to allow teachers, schools, and institutes to record positive comments about others for viewers and potential associates to consider.
COMPLAINTS
Unfortunately, in the rush to chase the growing ESL market worldwide many schools, institutions, and teachers have been operating in a less than ethical manner. Due to the vast geographical distances between those with knowledge and those who seek it many of these unethical practices continue unabated. This problem has been expanded with the growing unethical maligning of legitimate schools, institutions and teachers by dissidents or competitors through unconfirmed and unsubstantiated complaints broadcasted on internet sites.
The LATIE Better Business Forum is open to all participants in the ESL profession worldwide. A complaint may be filed by or against any school, institution or teacher in the ESL profession worldwide.
Every complaint is monitored and reviewed as to credibility. Every complaint received is referred to the body which the complaint is against for a response.
Respondents are allowed 15 days to respond before the Better Business Forum proceeds.
All responses will be reviewed and appropriate action taken by Forum staff in dealing with the complaint. Whenever possible BBF staff shall attempt a positive mediation of the complaint should it be requested by both parties.
ALL non-responses will automatically result in the complaint being filed on the BBF section of the LATIE web site for all interested parties to review.
PRAISE
By filing the praise form with LATIE, the filer shall be able to make others aware of the positive relations they have had working in the ESL profession.
While there is no cost to filing this report, the filer must be a LATIE member in order to do so.
Reviewers are expected to rely on such comments in reviewing future relationships. While these comments can rarely be substantiated, readers are cautioned to be cautious in relying fully on these comments.
